Welcome Adam Singer

Adam Singer’s career has been defined by movement across geographies, industries, and institutional environments. As a seasoned strategic advisor, he brings decades of experience helping organizations navigate complexity, build trust, and scale with discipline.

A Canadian by background, Adam studied civil engineering and applied mathematics at McGill University before moving to China, first working in Shanghai on high-rise construction projects, and later in Hong Kong during the period just before the handover. That early move to Asia proved foundational. At a time when many professionals were still focused on Japan as the region’s dominant economic story, Adam chose a different path. He saw China firsthand at an earlier stage of its modern economic rise, observing the pace, ambition, and complexity of its development from the ground up. Those early years shaped a perspective that would stay with him throughout his career: growth is not only about capital or strategy, but also about culture, execution, trust, and timing.

After earning his MBA from Columbia Business School, Adam joined J.P. Morgan Chase at the turn of the century. Over the course of more than two decades at the firm, his work spanned eCommerce strategy, equity sales, research compliance, and operational risk. Following the global financial crisis, he returned to Hong Kong to help build the research function in Asia, before taking on executive roles across compliance, governance, and risk management in the region.

He later joined HKEX as Group Chief Compliance Officer, helping strengthen the compliance function at one of the world’s most important exchanges. The move gave him a rare vantage point across both private and public market infrastructure, deepening his understanding of how institutions, regulators, investors, and companies interact on a global stage.

Helping Companies Scale with Discipline Having spent much of his career inside large institutions, Adam understands the systems, processes, and governance standards that sophisticated investors expect. His focus now is on taking those learnings and applying them to smaller or growing companies entering more complex stages of development.

Many capable founders and individual investors are highly sophisticated in their own domains, but may have less experience with governance, board structure, operational risk, internal controls. These issues may appear secondary to a founder’s core product or vision, but Adam believes they can become critical at inflection points including when seeking institutional investment. “Founders need more help than they often realize,” he says. “They are passionate about what they do, but it is important to surround themselves with people who can look at the risks that may not be in their field of vision.”

These risks may be geopolitical, financial, organizational, or cultural. Smaller decisions can compound into meaningful consequences. Adam’s advice to founders is to seek out experience early, listen to multiple perspectives, and be willing to adjust course before problems become expensive or irreversible.

Bridging Cultural and Capital Market Gaps One of Adam’s distinctive strengths is his ability to translate across cultural and institutional boundaries. Having worked across geographies, he understands that individual perspectives do not always carry the same meaning in different markets. Trust, communication, decision-making, and risk tolerance can vary significantly across cultures. This has become even more important in the post-Covid period, when reduced travel and fewer in-person interactions widened cultural voids between Western investors and Asian businesses.

With a growing pipeline of companies emerging from Hong Kong, China, and the broader region, Adam believes that the investor's role is not simply to provide capital, but to offer strategic guidance on social understanding, business norms, and the credibility required to build trust and execute cross-border transactions.
