M10 is built with the highest security in mind. The ledger guarantees immutability across all transactions since each transaction is digitally signed. The system is encrypted end to end using public-key cryptography that ensures the most secure and trusted computing environment while also allowing for millisecond latency and a max TPS (Transactions Per Second) of upwards of a million. At the system level, instead of using a language like C or C++, M10 opted to use Rust, a statically and strongly typed language that offers similar speed to C and C++ but ensures memory safety. Rust obtains this safety by using an affine type system to track the ownership of each value stored in memory. In essence, a value can only be used once which helps avoid the common double-free error that is regularly encountered while using other system languages. This error occurs when a memory block is released or deallocated and called more than once using the same memory address which can lead to a memory leak.
