We have long held conviction in the “healthcare to your home” thesis, and we are pleased to share a meaningful milestone: Function Health has acquired our portfolio company Getlabs, a leading mobile diagnostics platform that sends licensed specialists to a patient’s location. Getlabs was built on a simple premise: healthcare demand is rising as populations age and access barriers remain a persistent reason many people delay or skip routine testing. At-home diagnostics directly reduces that friction by meeting patients where they are.
This underscores a broader structural issue in healthcare that we have consistently invested in, including through our recently exited investment Alto: traditional healthcare is still optimized for institutions, not for patients’ time, mobility, or daily life. It made sense that Alto founders introduced us to the team at Getlabs, reinforcing the importance of network. Specifically, that high-caliber teams often converge on key issues that have strong sector relevance and investment logic.
By integrating Getlabs’ nationwide logistics and scheduling infrastructure into Function’s preventative health platform, the combined product aims to increase adherence (more members completing testing), improve longitudinal data continuity, and ultimately, support earlier detection. It also aligns with Function’s objective to transform diagnostics into continuous, actionable health data, an important component of AI-assisted personalized healthcare and how the flywheel accelerates over time: better access gives rise to more completed tests → more completed tests create richer longitudinal data → richer data improves guidance and personalization → improved outcomes increase retention and repeat engagement.
